Four Steps to Prepare for Your Photo Session
You’ve scheduled your photo session and the day is here. Now what do you need to prepare in the hours leading up to meeting your photographer? Here are a few things to think through.
This one is obvious but definitely a big part of the preparation…
Get dressed. Whether it’s a casual jeans and t-shirt or a fancy dress and heels session, put on something you feel comfortable and confident in! (A post coming soon on how to choose and style outfits for solo sessions and for groups.)
Put together a touch-up bag. This should include anything you might need to fix hair, make-up or an outfit to be sure you’re prepared during your session. Hair brush, comb, comfy pair of shoes (for walking if you want to wear heels), extra outfit (if you’re doing an outfit change), snacks for kiddos, extra make-up, etc. Anything that will make the session easier and cover your bases… bring it!
Know where you’re meeting. Have the instructions, directions, and address for the place you’re meeting your photographer noted. Make a note on your phone or pull up the email/text with all the info. You don’t want to have to be frantically searching for that 5 minutes before your session!
Factor in transit details to your departure time. Add together the drive time, traffic, finding parking, and walking to the meeting spot so that you arrive at the meeting spot on time! Some places require 2 minutes to find a parking spot and some require 15 minutes to find an open spot. The time you have with your photographer is precious! Arriving on time ensures you get to enjoy every minute of that time together.
